Arco de Santa Catalina con flores

This painting shows the famous Santa Catalina Arch on Calle del Arco ("street of the arch"). This landmark was built in 1694 to connect a school on one side of the arch to a covenant on the other side, allowing nuns to pass without going down to the crowded street. A clock was added to the top of the arch in 1830. Although the arch is yellow in reality, the use of black and white in this painting allows the neon flowers to stand out. The detail in the cobblestones and the reflection of the arch in the puddles on the street is truly unique.
